The pronunciation of the Portuguese of Portugal

Old books about Portuguese orthography and phonology and phonetics

Discovered in March 2005, long after I started this site in 2000.
The Portuguese National Library (Biblioteca Nacional) in its Biblioteca Nacional Digital makes lots of old books in their original edition accessible to the public.
I made a selection of books on the subjects relevant to this project, from old to older.

(The links mostly point to PDF-files, which can be viewed by programs like

FoxitReader (recommended, lean and fast; but it eats resource handles!)
Adobe’s Acrobat Reader (not recommended, because it is slow bloatware).
