What struck me here that the dialects from the North of Portugal, even
close to the Spanish (Galician) border, like from
Castro Laboreiro
for example,
are so close to standard European Portuguese, and seem rather different from
Galician. They don't have the merging of /S/ and /Z/ (<x> is one orthography
of Galician) and /s/ and /z/).
